Strong Start for Stars Red
Dear Stars Red Families,
What an incredible way to kick off the season with our very first meet! Many of our swimmers showed up feeling a little nervous, unsure of what to expect. But as the meet went on, they pushed past those nerves, embraced the challenge, and truly amazed us with their courage and effort!
With just a few weeks of practice under their belts, I am so proud of how far they’ve already come. For many, it was their very first swim meet—and they were fantastic. The coaches have been so impressed with their positive attitudes, willingness to try, and the energy they bring to the pool.
We’ve been focusing on stroke drills and gradually building endurance. Our newer swimmers have made big strides in freestyle and backstroke, and now we’re beginning to introduce breaststroke and butterfly. They might not be legal just yet—but that’s part of the journey, and we’re so proud of the effort and improvement we’re already seeing!
We also have some record-breaking news! Four new team records were set at our first meet:
- 11–12 Girls 50 Breaststroke: Harley Dunning
- 11–12 Boys 50 Breaststroke: Davis Watson
- 11–12 Girls 50 Butterfly: Lexi Brown
- 11–12 Boys 50 Butterfly: Harrison Parker
Congratulations to these swimmers on their incredible swims!
I want to highlight two exciting meets to keep on your calendar:
- On June 28, we’ll compete in Divisionals against the other two teams in Division 1. This is our Championship Meet, and we need every swimmer there! Points are awarded from 1st through 8th place, so every swim makes a difference and every swimmer contributes to the team’s overall score. Whether it’s a top finish or simply out-touching another swimmer, it all adds up!
- The very next day, on June 29, we have the NWSC Invitational Meet, open only to swimmers who achieve the league’s qualifying times. We’re off to a fantastic start—we already have 39 swimmers qualified, and we expect that number to grow as the season continues! (Qualifying times can be found here).
Looking ahead to next weekend’s meet against Pflugerville:
Please log into your SwimTopia account and select 3 individual events for your swimmer. If your swimmer will not be attending, please mark them as “Not Attending.” This helps me plan relays and entries more accurately. Registration closes on Monday at noon, so be sure to submit your entries on time!
And a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers! We truly couldn’t do this without you. Your time and support are what make our meets run smoothly, and we’re so grateful to have you on deck.
Thank you for being part of this incredible team. We’ve had a fantastic start, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
Go Stars!! ⭐️
