RED vs. Round Rock - June 8th
Our next meet is at home on Saturday, June 8 vs. Round Rock Dolphins. As I’ve mentioned before, we have to follow a very strict timeline for our home meets. Cooperation and attention from parents, swimmers and volunteers is essential to ensure we finish on time. Please read this e-mail carefully!
For injury, illness or any other situation that occurs which will prevent your child from attending the meet, please e-mail ([email protected]) or text (512-680-7556) me as soon as you know so we can adjust our meet entries. It would be a great idea to plug my cell phone number into your phone so you have it handy in case you need to reach me.

PARKING
Parking is extremely limited within the Bella Mar neighborhood. Attached is the map of approved parking within Bella Mar, and you can see there’s not much available. Biking, walking and carpooling are all great ideas! Our families will arrive at the meet before Round Rock, and we are asking all Stars families to leave the parking spots within Bella Mar for the visiting team. You can drop off your swimmers and gear in the designated drop-off areas near the Bella Mar pool, but then please park at River Ridge Elementary and take our complimentary, air-conditioned, convenient shuttle back and forth to the pool. Let’s be good hosts to the visiting team!
TIME-SAVING TECHNIQUES WILL BE USED
The Stars will utilize the following time-saving techniques at this meet:
- Limited medley relays. We will only have one heat per Medley Relay event. This does not affect 6 & Under Freestyle Relays nor the Freestyle Relays at the end of the meet.
- Flyover starts. We will have flyover starts on all 50- and 100-yd individual events (except Backstroke). A ‘flyover start’ is where swimmers stay in the pool after they finish their event. Then after the next heat of swimmers starts their race, the previous swimmers will get out of the pool.
- 25-yd backstrokers in the water before previous heat has finished. Swimmers in 25-yd individual Backstroke events will get in the water while the previous heat is still swimming so they are ready to swim immediately following the completion of the previous race. The Starter will direct the swimmers when it’s time for them to get in, and the Coaches will also assist them.
- Combining heats. We will combine heats whenever possible.
Tent Parents, Ready Bench and Coaches will help to remind the swimmers of these changes.
HEAT SHEETS
The heat sheets are attached to this e-mail. You can also find all of the heat sheets on Swimtopia under the Quick Links section ‘Meet Heat Sheets and Results’.Please note: Relays are subject to change and reorganization until scratches are determined right before the meet starts.
MEET MOBILE
We are planning on having our meet available on Meet Mobile. Remember, the results that appear on Meet Mobile are preliminary and are for reference only until the official results are posted a few hours after the end of the meet.
OUR SUMMER PRACTICE SCHEDULE BEGINS ON TUESDAY, JUNE 11

CHECK YOUR FAMILY FOLDERS OFTEN FOR RIBBONS AND IMPORTANT ITEMS
The family folders will be available at every practice during the week. They may not be put out at the beginning of the 13+ practice, but they should be there after that practice is finished.
Who gets a ribbon? Here are the ways a swimmer can earn a ribbon:
- Heat Ribbon. These black ribbons with gold writing are given at the meet immediately at the end of a race. They are given to the swimmer/relay team who touches the wall first in that heat. Disqualification does not matter, only who touches first.
- Time Improvement Ribbon. If a swimmer improves their time by even .01 second in a particular event from a previous swim in that same event, they will get a Time Improvement Ribbon.
- Place Ribbon. Place Ribbons are given to relay teams who finish first, second or third overall in a relay event. Place Ribbons are also given to swimmers who place first through tenth overall in an individual event.
- Participant Ribbon. These are given only to 6 & Under swimmers who do not earn a Time Improvement nor Place Ribbon for a meet. They will get one Participant Ribbon per meet, not per event.
Time Improvement, Place and Participant Ribbons are available in the family folders at the next practice day after a meet.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR: TEAM PICTURES WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12!
Order forms will be in your family folders on Tuesday. More details to come in the next few days...
